Why SugarCRM Works for SMBs

CRM used to be known of as software for large businesses with sizable sales teams. As technology has changed, we know that is no longer true. CRMs are for anyone who sells. That being said, it’s still important to look for a CRM that fits the size of your business well. In this post, we’ll talk about why Sugar works well for small-to-medium sized businesses (SMBs).

1. Flexibility to Customize

One of Sugar’s most applauded features is the ability to customize it. Being open sourced makes Sugar great for a company with a smaller budget but internal developer resources. The options here are literally endless--pretty much anything you can dream of can be built with enough time and expertise. 2. Ability to Self Configure

Another feature that contributes to the adaptability of the Sugar platform is the tool known as Studio. Studio is used by administrators to modify the look and feel of Sugar without the help of an engineer. This includes creating custom fields, marking fields as required, hiding fields, creating dependent fields, etc. This is a great way to customize the platform if you don't have internal development resources. By modifying your Sugar instance to the only relevant fields, users will find that Sugar is simple to use and will use it more often.

3. Scalability

At W-Systems we believe one of the tenants of CRM success is expanding CRM to more than just your sales team so that all departments can have data transparency. This often means adding seats over time, but you can only do this with a product that fits you long term. Sugar can meet your needs as they grow and change over time with your business. There are hundreds of third-party integrators, add-ons, plugins, and custom developers to choose from to adjust Sugar to meet your needs. 5. Remote Access

Smaller companies often have people who work from home, especially if they are starting small teams in new locations. Sugar works for field reps or employees that work from home because it is a browser-based platform, it comes with a free mobile app, and it syncs in real time. While there are other platforms designed for SMBs such as Zoho or even Sugar’s free Community Edition, they often don’t scale well once a company starts to grow quickly, and they may not offer enough flexibility to meet your needs as your business goals change.
