Passing the Sugar Solution Architect Exam

A Sugar Solution Architect has developed the skills, knowledge, and abilities over time to design CRM solutions that meet customer business requirements.

Getting certified as a Solution Architect is no easy feat: you must have advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with Sugar solutions and the Sugar platform. Also, while no longer prerequisites, it is highly recommended that a Solution Architect participates in Sugar Administrator and Sugar Developer training courses as well.

At this year’s SugarCon, Michael Joyner, CRM Client Manager at W-Systems, took the Sugar Solution Architect Certification Exam and passed. Michael has nine years of experience in Sugar and has filled a multitude of CRM roles over the years, from Administrator, to Solution Integrator and Project Manager, and much more.

To get certified as a Solution Architect, Michael set an initial goal of passing the exam to January 2018 and prepared over the course of 6 months. “The week before SugarCon, all I did was study,” says Michael.

As for the actual exam, it is essential to focus on its topics and objectives:

  • CRM Project Fundamentals
  • Sugar Platform
  • Design
  • Integration
  • Sugar Implementation
  • Quality Assurance
  • Deployment
  • Security

Michael notes, “The exam’s questions are based on hands-on experience with Sugar, so simply studying and attending training sessions won’t do.”

Kevin Freitas, Senior Director of Learning and Development at SugarCRM, commented on the exam’s difficulty that, “With only a 40% pass rate, passing the Sugar Solution Architect Certification exam should not be taken lightly. Besides studying the objectives, you need actual hands-on experience as a Solution Architect to get at least the required 64% pass score. SugarCRM Solution Architects have deep practical expertise in areas including Sugar administration, development, and design methodologies.”

The Sugar Solution Architect Certification Exam is comprised of 60 multiple choice questions which must be answered in 90 minutes and has a required 64% pass score. If you want to learn more about this exam or wish to improve your Sugar knowledge and skills, visit the Sugar University.
