We've got some great news! As you may know, wMobile Desktop for GoldMine has received a much-awaited UI overhaul that is available with the release of wMobile for GoldMine 5.0, and with that, we are excited to announce that a new feature has been added in wMobile Desktop for GoldMine: the ability to reorder the Main Menu.

Reordering the Main Menu Easy as One, Two, Three

This action can be done by each user in wMobile Desktop under User Options or by the Administrator in the Manager Console. Note that the following items are fixed and cannot be moved:

  • The Logo Item (recently viewed items),
  • Search Button
  • User Profile Menu

1. Step 1: Changing the Main Menu Order from wMobile Desktop

  • Go to User Options

  • Go to Display → Main Menu Configurator

You will see your main menu displayed as a tree view.

You will see your main menu displayed as a tree view. And you can start to reorder using drag & drop or the available buttons on the right. If you press on the ‘Built-in Order’ button, the main menu will be reset to the default order provided by the application.

There are two nodes which are fixed and cannot be moved:

  • “Main Menu”, which is the root of the menu

  • “more…”, which contains the items which are not directly visible in the main menu. These items will be found under arrow dropdown from the main menu bar.

You can also add external menu items (URLs to external pages):

dd external menu items (URLs to external pages)

This is how they are displayed in the Main Menu. Before these items, a line separator will be added.

2. Changing the Main Menu Order from the Manager Console

Go to User Options or Default User Options → Desktop → MainMenu

In the right panel, you will see the property ‘MainMenuItems’ — click on that item and then click on the button with three dots.

The Main Menu Configurator is similar to the one in the wMobile Desktop interface. You need to click on a menu item and then use the arrows up or down to reorder. After you finish the reorder process you need to hit the ‘Ok’ button and the to hit the ‘Save’ button.

Note that without pressing the ‘Save’ button, all the changes will be lost.

When clicking on the  ‘Load Built-in Order’ button, the main menu will be reset to the order provided by the wMobile Desktop application. This action is available only in Default User Options and will automatically save the option in the Database.

You can apply this setting for all users – just press the ‘Apply to all users’ button.

3. Main Menu Builder

The Main Menu items list is built by wMobile Desktop and then saved to cache. Each time a change is made, the cache is cleared.

The main menu builder follows some rules to computing the main menu items for a specific user:

  • If the user has not changed their menu order, the order set as default by the Administrator will be used. Or if this has not been set, the default order provided by the application will be used.
  • If there is found a custom order of menu items (created by the user or by the administrator), this list is merged with the list of menu items provided by the application. This merge process will ensure that all the new enabled add-ins will be available in the main menu or the disabled add-ins will be deleted from the main menu.
  • If there are add-ins which are enabled after a user reorganizes their main menu, these new items are added at the end of the menu.
  • This new list created after the merging process is used to create the Main Menu.
