Support for the Relationship Tree (formerly Org Chart) has been included in wMobile since version 2.1, although functionality has been improved since its original implementation. I had an inquiry about it recently, so it seemed a good time for a refresher!
Relationship Trees are useful to see the relationships and organization between different contact records. It also provides a quick navigation method between those records. Relationships are displayed under the Relationships tab of the contact record in wMobile Desktop.
Click or tap on the View option to navigate to a contact within the Relationship Tree.
If you’re not seeing the Relationship tab, select Tools | Options.
Expand the Contact section by clicking on the + sign. Select Tabs as shown below. Checkmark the Relationships tab to add it to your display.
You can also select the Reorder tab to change the order of the tabs and move Relationships higher in the list if you use this frequently. Select Relationships in the list and use the up and down arrow keys to adjust the order. Click OK to save your changes.
Relationship trees can be edited from wMobile Desktop. For example, folder names can be edited. Highlight the folder and select Edit on the toolbar.
In this example, we’ll change the default Contact type value to ‘Main Office.’
Click Save to preserve the change.
New Relationship Trees can be created, and folders and contacts can be added in wMobile Desktop.
Select Relationship Tree to create a new tree. Typically, new Relationship Trees are started on the primary/main contact for a company. Click on the icon showing a person with a magnifying glass to search for the contact.
Add criteria to locate the contact. Select the contact by double-clicking on it.
Select Save on the next screen.
A new relationship tree will be created.
Perhaps you’d like to add a new section such as Sales or Accounting, to see these contacts grouped together. Highlight the level below which you want to add the new section and then select New Section from the Relationship toolbar.
Alternatively, you could also right-click on the level of the tree, and right click to add a New | Section or Contact.
Add a name for the section. Click Save.
The new section will be added.
To add other contacts to the new section, highlight it and then either select New | Contact from the toolbar, or right-click on the section and select New | Contact.
As before, click on the search button to enter criteria to locate the contact to be added.
Select the contact by double-clicking on it. Select Save on the next screen.
The new contact will be added.
To add another section, perhaps for Sales, go back to the top section and highlight it. Then select New | Section.
Note: If you have a contact highlighted when you add the new section, then the new section will appear under that contact. This might be the intention, just be aware where you’re starting from.
Once the new section is created, you can then add contacts as described above.
Depending on user permissions, it’s possible to delete a contact, a folder, or an entire Relationship Tree. Click or tap on the item to be deleted so that it’s highlighted and then select Delete from the Relationship tab toolbar menu.
If a user does not have the ‘Delete’ permission on the Access tab of the GoldMine user settings, they will not have the Delete button available in wMobile Desktop. An example is shown below.
We hope you will find this feature useful.
