The Sugar Plug-in for Outlook is available with all commercial editions of Sugar and it allows you to:
This blog post will walk you through installing the Outlook Plug-in for Sugar and go through its main features.
To download the plug-in, log into your Sugar instance. Then, click the avatar button in the top right corner, select Profile, go to the Downloads tab and click on the plug-in that you want to install.
Extract the zip file and install the plug-in. Note that you might have to restart Outlook if the installation occurred while the program was opened.
To connect and configure the plug-in, open the desktop-based version of Outlook, go to the Add-ins tab and select SugarCRM Plug-in Settings. From the pop-up window, you can connect to your Sugar instance using your credentials and configure when or if Sugar should sync any data with Outlook.
There are two ways of using the newly installed plug-in: the Sugar options under the Home tab, or the Sugar side panel.
Under the Home tab in Outlook, you’ll now see Sugar-related options when viewing your Inbox, Contacts, Tasks, or Calendar in Outlook. These options allow you to archive emails to Sugar, create new Sugar records, sync records, etc. Note that the Sugar options available may vary depending on the Outlook view you are accessing.

These Sugar options allow you to:
In addition to the Sugar options in the Home tab of Outlook, you also have Sugar functionality using the side panel or the right side of the Outlook window.
When reading an email, the Side Panel attempts to find the sender’s address in Sugar and displays its corresponding record (from the Contacts or Leads modules), its available information and related modules and records.
You can also create related records directly from the Side Panel by clicking the + button next to the related module.
If an email address doesn’t have an associated record in Sugar, you have the option to create a new record.
Note that you can create records in the Contacts and Leads modules using this method. For example, selecting the Contact option will open the Create a Contact form allowing you to enter all relevant information for the contact, and give you the option to archive the email which contained the sender’s address.
