Sugar Fields allow you to create an infinite variation of user interface tools. They are view elements that render each particular module field. As such they have representations for all the SugarCRM default types of views: Edit/Detail/List.
This article will describe the process of creating a ‘videopopup’ SugarField. We wanted to create a field type where we could store a video from a public source such as YouTube and present it to a user in a pop up video player.
In this screen shot you can see the field in action. The user clicked on a video pop up field in Sugar and a Youtube video appears and starts playing.
This field will be stored as varchar (web link to the video) in the database and will appear to the user as a link that opens a popup with the corresponding video (from Youtube or Wistia).
