How to Use DocuSign eSignature with Microsoft Word Documents

Microsoft Word is one of the most popular word processing applications, and DocuSign is the top electronic signature tool. By integrating DocuSign eSignature and Word, you get the best of both worlds. Keep reading to find out how! 

How Do You Electronically Sign a Word Document?

Here are four easy steps in which you can sign a Word document using DocuSign eSignature.

Step 1: Install the DocuSign Add-In.

Start off by simply going into a Word document and navigate to Insert Add-Ins. This command will open up the Office Store (or Store on Mac). Look for the DocuSign for Word add-in and press ‘Add’. And voila, you have added DocuSign eSignature to Word. It’s as easy as that.

Step 2: Create a DocuSign Account

Once the add-in has been successfully installed, you will see a new menu option in Word called DocuSign. Click on it and choose Sign Document. A DocuSign login box appears that allows you to either create a new DocuSign account or sign in if you’re already a customer.

Step 3: Sign the Document

Once logged in, click “Signature” on the left side of the page, and click where you want to insert your signature. If a signature is all you need, just click the Adopt and Sign button at the bottom of the window. Your signature will appear in the desired place on the document. Click the Finish button at the top of the page.

You can also add checkboxes, dates, text, or initials to any page of your document. Simply select the type of function you want to use, select the area, and type in the information.

Step 4: Send and Download

Enter the recipient’s name and email address in the “Full Name” and “Email Address” fields in the pop-up menu, then click Send and Close.

And you’re done. You can log into your DocuSign account to see all the documents you’ve signed and sent.

Now you can sign documents electronically without having to leave Microsoft Word or other Microsoft products like Outlook or SharePoint. You can even sign using your mobile phone or tablet.

Using Autograph eSignatures

Feel free to sign Word documents in whatever way you like. In case you’re attached to your autograph, you have the option to create your own eSignature in Word rather than one of DocuSign’s premade options.
