The "Allow blank input" and "Force valid input" field settings are used for all the lookup fields in the application (Contact, Cases, Opportunities, Projects). The type of the field (data type) must be character or numeric, date/time is not included. These settings are configured in GoldMine and can be used both simultaneously and separately.
In this blog post, we will use a lookup field (‘Title’ field) from Contacts, but the same configuration is applied for any lookup field from the application.
After these configurations are set, in wMobile for GoldMine: Phone, near the pencil icon is a question mark that describes the field requirements:
If the user tries to leave the field empty, then a warning message appears:
If the user tries to insert an invalid value, then a warning message appears above the field and displays the lookup list:
